About TypeDelta
Published by TypeDelta Engineering & Editorial Team
TypeDelta (typedelta.com) is an open, standardized typing speed test, keyboard ergonomics laboratory, and competitive typing community built for software engineers, transcriptionists, students, and competitive keyboard athletes worldwide.
Who We Are & Our Team
TypeDelta was founded in 2026 by a dedicated group of web performance engineers, open-source contributors, and mechanical keyboard enthusiasts. Frustrated by legacy typing tests cluttered with intrusive pop-ups, inconsistent word calculation standards, and artificial input latency, we set out to build the premier, zero-latency benchmarking platform on the web.
Our core engineering team brings over a decade of combined experience in browser input pipeline optimization, Web Audio synthesis, WebSocket multiplayer architectures, and biomechanical ergonomics.
Our Core Mission
In modern knowledge work, the keyboard is the primary physical interface between human thought and digital execution. Our mission is to democratize elite keyboard fluency:
- Standardized Velocity Metrics: Eliminating variance by adhering strictly to the global standard (5 keystrokes = 1 standard word) across all timed benchmarks (15s, 30s, 45s, 60s, 3m, 5m, 10m).
- Targeted Biomechanical Training: Moving beyond rote typing by leveraging our AI Delta Coach to isolate specific slow key transitions (same-finger penalties, pinky reach bottlenecks).
- Verifiable Career Credentials: Providing tamper-proof digital certificates that professionals can proudly showcase on LinkedIn, GitHub, and job applications.
Editorial & Linguistic Standards
To ensure fair and statistically valid speed testing, all wordlists and exam passages on TypeDelta adhere to rigorous editorial guidelines:
- Standardized Corpora: Our core dictionary modules are curated from statistically weighted English corpora (Google Web Trillion Word Corpus, Brown Corpus, Project Gutenberg).
- Syntactic Accuracy in Developer Mode: Our coding syntax tests feature authentic, idiomatically correct snippets extracted from production open-source repositories in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, C++, Go, Rust, and SQL.
- Exam Authenticity: Our 5-minute and 10-minute certification passages are calibrated against historical civil service and corporate typing examination syllabi.
